ChicagoDelish is an independent food webzine covering Chicago's restaurant scene, recipes, and culinary events. Our website is chicagodelish.com.

Information We Collect

Contact Form

When you use our contact form, we collect your name, email address, and message. This information is sent directly to our editorial team via email and is not stored in any database. We use your email only to respond to your inquiry.

Newsletter

If you subscribe to our newsletter, we store your email address so we can send you updates. Every newsletter includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also unsubscribe at any time via our unsubscribe page. Once you unsubscribe, your email is permanently deleted from our system.

Search

When you use the search feature on our site, your search queries are used to find matching content in real time. We do not log or store search queries.

Cookies

We do not use cookies for tracking or advertising. Our site may use essential technical cookies required for basic functionality (such as maintaining a session during your visit), but these contain no personal information and are not used to identify or track you.

Third-Party Services

We use a small number of third-party services to operate the site:

• OpenStreetMap — Our map page loads map tiles from OpenStreetMap. Your browser connects directly to OSM's servers to display the map. See the OpenStreetMap privacy policy.
• Email delivery — Contact form messages are delivered via a third-party SMTP service. The service processes your message in transit but does not retain it.
• Restaurant ratings — We display ratings from Google and Yelp on restaurant review pages. This data is fetched server-side and cached on our servers; no requests are made from your browser to these services when you visit our site.
• Health inspection data — We display Chicago health inspection results from the City of Chicago Data Portal (public government data) on restaurant review pages. This data is fetched and stored server-side.
• Affiliate links — Some pages contain links to third-party booking and shopping platforms (OpenTable, Resy, Eventbrite, Amazon). When you click these links, the destination site may set its own cookies and track your activity according to its own privacy policy. ChicagoDelish does not receive any personal data about you from these services. See our disclosure policy for details.

Images on our site are served from our own infrastructure. Fonts are self-hosted. External restaurant data (ratings, health inspections) is fetched server-side and stored on our servers. We do not use external CDNs, social media embeds, or third-party JavaScript that runs in your browser.

• Unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time using the link in any email or our unsubscribe page
• Request deletion of any personal data we may hold
• Request a copy of your data via our my data page — we'll email you a summary

Children's Privacy

ChicagoDelish is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy as our site evolves. When we do, we will revise the "last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
